ABOUT JEN

Jen Kirsten is an Edinburgh based artist and producer with several years of experience working in different spheres of the music industries. Jen released her debut album ‘Focusing’ in September 2025, and this became the catalyst for discovering her identity as an artist, spurring a pursuit of authenticity and depth through her music.

Jen’s music explores the deep questions saturating humanity, yet not without a hopeful undertone to offer amid a fractured world.
Jen also records, produces and mixes music for both her and other artists. After graduating from studying music, specialising in production and composition at Edinburgh Napier University in July 2025, she fulfilled her 9-year-old self’s dream of building a studio space to record in.
Jen discovered a deep enthusiasm for writing music at a young age and later in 2021 she won the award of BBC Young Composer. She was later commissioned to write for the BBC Concert Orchestra. Her piece ‘Unchanging Purpose’ was premiered in the BBC Proms Festival 2022.
Along with creating music, Jen is a session musician with 12+ years of experience. Jen has a grade 8 in both violin and piano, along with a diploma in violin, which she teaches as part of her freelancing career. Her instruments include violin, piano, vocals and acoustic guitar and is practiced in both live and studio settings in the genres of pop, folk, classical and jazz.
